Quinta Da Aldeia is in Figueira with its brightly coloured houses and cobbled streets. There are two shops where you can buy most essentials and several bars and restaurants where you can enjoy good food at low prices. Also nearby there is a large supermarket at Budens, which is only 5 minutes drive away. Close by are several unspoiled beaches where the only building is a ruin of a fort on the cliffs. 5 minutes away by road is Salema beach which is a busy little fishing village and is ideal for families with its beauitful sand and several beach bars and restaurants. !0 miles to the east is Lagos, where there is an old slave market, marina, harbour, fish market, and a great range of shops and restaurants. 8 miles to the west is Cape St Vincent, the most westerly point of Europe, where huge cliffs and wild seas can be spectacular. Henry the Navigator set sail from here on his voyages of discovery. Up the atlantic coast from here you will find beach after beach of beautiful white sand. The beaches are unspoiled, but most will have a beach bar for refreshments. For further information on Figueira and the surrounding area, please take a look at this page - portugalvirtual. Below and to the left are images of Salema and some West unspoiled beaches...
